1. Lock the SIM
The first step would be calling your network device provider and get your SIM card locked so that no is able to access your WhatsApp account.
2. New SIM card card
Once you get your SIM card locked, you will require a new SIM card with the same number to activate WhatsApp on your phone.
3. Deactivate the account
To deactivate your account you will have to send an email to the company. The body of the mail should include “Lost/Stolen: Please deactivate my account” and your phone number in the full International format ( +91 is used as a prefix for Indian numbers).
4. Messages stays for 30 days
Once the account is deactivated, your contacts will be able to view your profile and send messages, which will be available for 30 days. Once you reactivate the account, the pending messages can be retrieved on a new device. However, if you don’t activate your account within 30 days, the data will be deleted.
5. Use WIFI
In case you don’t want to contact the company with a deactivation request, you can even use WhatsApp with the help of WIFI.
